Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) is scheduled to take place on 3rd February 2026. We are keen to hear from members who would like to get involved in the running and supporting of the RBYC. For more information about getting involved, email our Commodore, Steve Norton, at commodore@therbyc.co.uk.
Following the AGM we will be joined by Neil Dunnet who will be talking about the BT Global Challenge 2000/2001.
Neil’s remarkable adventure began when he earned a coveted place in the BT Global Challenge 2000/2001, an event renowned as the world’s toughest yacht race.
Over the course of the event, Neil sailed more than 20,000 kilometres across three gruelling legs aboard the yacht ‘Olympic Group’. The race itself was uniquely challenging as crews were required to navigate around the world ‘the wrong way’—sailing against prevailing winds and currents, which tested their abilities to the utmost.
In his presentation, Neil will share an honest and vivid portrayal of life on board these 72-foot ocean racing yachts. He will explore both the exhilarating highs and the inevitable lows encountered during the journey. We will hear insights into the intensity of teamwork required and the formidable demands of ocean racing, as well as personal stories that capture the spirit and challenges of taking on such an extraordinary adventure.
